In the hills south of Tetouan lies Jbel Alam, resting place of Moulay Abdessalam Ibn Mashish, the master of Imam al-Shadhili, where the Shadhili path begins. Tetouan keeps the zawiya of Sidi Muhammad al-Harraq, and Sidi Ahmad ibn ʿAjiba rests in the Anjra hills towards Tangier. The Shadhili Path retreat links all three from one riad in Tetouan.
Getting there. Tangier airport (TNG) is 74 km from Tetouan, about 1 h 20. Jbel Alam is 62 km from Tetouan and 46 km from Chefchaouen, on mountain roads; Zmij, the village of Ibn ʿAjiba, is 55 km from Tetouan.
